Buckeyes v. Hawkeyes!!!

So this Saturday is a huge game... Ohio State v. U. Iowa Hawkeyes, and Brad and I have 4th row tickets in the endzone!!!  It's going to be nuts in town this weekend, especially since ESPN college game day is going to be here friday and saturday...maybe i'll be on tv!!  I'm still not even sure who I'm going to root for, mabye i'll wear hawkeye stuff, but root for ohio state.  i'm so confused.  Hopefully when brad and i go to the mall tonight i'll figure out something, or at least find garb for one of the teams, lol.
classes are going well, but i really miss ashland and band, even ... *gasp*  marching band.  it's crazy, i know.

Go Bucks!

Go Hawkeyes!

So Brad and I have been in Iowa for a month now.  It doesn't really seem that long, but then other times it seems like forever, lol.  All in all it doesn't feel much different than Ohio, except that it's a larger town than ashland and less of one than Cleveland, and I don't know anyone here... well a few people but they aren't like my HS friends or my AU friends.  My classes are going pretty well, i'm taking a biophysics course, cell and molecular biology, medicinal chemistry of the central nervous system, and then a few one hour courses that pretty much just require me to show up and ask at least one question about the research topic.  I'm going to start my first research rotation this week, looking at dopamine and it's metabolites and their relationship to Parkinsons Disease.  It should be pretty interesting.
Today is Iowa's first home football game, and the first home football game that i have not gone to in like 10 years for the school that i'm attending.  I'm still going to watch it on tv though.  hopefully they win.

Last night brad and i ventured downtown to hear a reggae band that was giving a free outdoor concert.  It was pretty sweet, and they drew a large crowd.  We think that they should add horns... a trumpet, trombone, tenor, and bari... with us playing two of the parts, lol.  I really miss playing.  Hopefully taking ballet will help that, but classes don't start until the week of the 11th.  I was also thinking about taking karate, but i'm a little broke.

Hey this is my second post within a week!  wow

Well the countdown continues... 17 hours left of work, as of this second (or 2 days)  I will be so glad when I am done with this job, accounting and secretarial jobs are NOT for me, at least with one specific co-worker.  I guess this job wouldn't be THAT bad if it wasn't for her, who makes my life hell.  but 2 days, that's it.  this weeekend is going to be soo crazy, the trip to Iowa only has eight stops, not including ones for food on the way out.  but that's ok.

Hey I have a bed now!! i get to pick it up on saturday!

Last night, my dad and I went to a Toledo Mudhens game.  It was actually pretty fun.  I was a little disappointed though because we sat on the first base side right next to the field, and not one foul bowl came by us.  I really thought we'd have caught one.  Well this may be my last post in a while since I don't know how crazy life's going to be as I get settled in my condo out in Iowa.  Hey, seriously, come visit!!! I don't know if there's a lot to do out there, but i'm sure we can find something cool to do... if nothing else I guess cow-tipping is supposed to be somewhat amusing, lol (just kidding)  I will miss you all dearly!  Good luck this year!

so i seem to be updating very sporadically this summer

i would like to say that I am also upset about project runway last night... so his dress wasn't the prettiest ever, but at least he designed something, and worked really hard on a a garment that went down the runway, unlike angela or was it allison, lol, who simply bummed off of poor vincent (i'm not a big fan of vincent, but it still wasn't cool) and said how much she disliked vincent's dress.  that really stunk, i'm very sad.

on a happy note.. i had a blast last weekend in N. Canton. It was great to see so many people from Ashland before I move.  AND on an even happier note... I got my wedding dress last saturday.  It is actually sitting in "my" closet right now!!!  I'm so excited.

Luckily I also only have 5 days left at work, thank goodness, i'm ready to be done.  But, that means that i begin my move to Iowa in 8 days!!  it's going to be a very very crazy weekend.  I'm very excited to move and actually be in the pseudo-real world, i'm actually going to be paying my bills and be an adult, except for that whole broke-grad student thing, lol.

and one more random comment in this hodgepodge entry... i'm packed for iowa.  My bedroom at home is very empty, except for the suitcase that I have been living out of for the past couple weeks.  It's so weird to think that i have only 3 more nights in the bed that I have slept in for 19 years!  especially since I don't have a bed for iowa yet! hopefully that will change on saturday.

This summer has been pretty crazy so far...

graduated from ashland

got my new laptop

saw my brother off to Buffalo so he can stay and work for my grandfather this summer

semi-moved to Sandusky to work for my Dad (my dad and I drive out to Sandusky each Sunday night, stay in an apartment out there and then drive home Friday after work)  It is a very crazy schedule which makes it difficult to pack for my BIG move on July 31 and to see people before then as well.

Sent in the manuscript for my research project into the journal, so hopefully it gets published!  Oh and I am first author on the paper!!!  It's very exciting

Roadtripped it to Iowa with Brad for the weekend to complete the next item and to explore iowa city and the surrounding area

Bought a condo!!!!  It's very nice, brand-new, third floor condo with two bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen with a hard-wood floor, stainless steel appliances, gas fireplace and a porch.  I am very excited to move in and get situated

Thus far it has been a very crazy summer and i still have a lot of work to do... but that's ok
hope everyone is relaxing and rejuvinating!
